Volunteer of the year

During the Ferndale Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Gala on November 12, the organization awarded awards to several prominent individuals and organizations in the local community. These awards are given to people who exemplify Whatcom County values and who serve the community through their work.

The Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Carol Jackson, owner of Bits and Pieces Small Business Solutions. She has been a longtime member of the chamber and has been the director and vice president.

She has been instrumental in organizing Chamber events and short-term committees. She served as president of the Chamber in 2015 and was vice president in 2014. She has also served as interim administrator.

Other awards were given to Sam Boulos, Jeff Potter, Elie Samuel, and Walt Pollman. The event also featured a silent auction, food, and hors d’oeuvres.
